A play by Nicholas Kavanagh

VANDAL

Waterford Youth Arts presents Vandal, a new commission by playwright Nicholas Kavanagh, which explores the world of graffiti and asks the big question, "Is it art or vandalism?".

Directed by Eoin Ó hAnnracháin, Vandal is a gritty, fast-paced, thought-provoking piece of theatre about graffiti art and the impact it has on society.

Alex McGuire is a graffiti artist who gets in with the wrong crowd and is arrested for a crime he did not commit. His world is turned upside down. On probation Alex meets Denise, a teacher who helps him get his life back on track.

Starring; Mary-Louise Mc Carthy, Nicholas Kavanagh and Eoin Ó hAnnracháin.

Vandal was commissioned by Waterford City Council to counteract graffiti and vandalism, which impacts on the city's appearance.

This production toured secondary schools in Waterford from March 8th - 19th 2010. Due to popular demand Vandal has been re-commissoned and will be returning to schools in March 2011.
